What’s Going To Happen
There shouldn’t be too many problems for the dangerous Mean Green team that’s among the favorites to win the Conference USA title, but Abilene Christian should provide an interesting test.
The Wildcats are coming off an okay 6-5 season, but they get ten starters back on a defense that brought the heat all season long and has just enough talent to pressure Mason Fine and the UNT attack.
However, as good as ACU was at getting into the backfield and to the quarterback, it was equally bad on the other side at giving up passing yards, allowing 272 yards per game.
The Wildcats should be able to dominate the time of possession battle, and they’ll be strong on third downs on both sides of the ball, but they won’t have the offensive pop to keep the pace after hanging around for a quarter.
It won’t be the total wipeout, but it’ll get out of hand in the second half.
