North Somerset bus services operating emergency timetable

Bus services across North Somerset are now operating on an emergency timetable due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The majority of services across the district are running on emergency timetables, while some services have been suspended altogether.

Council officials are urging people to only travel if their journey is essential.

Other guidelines for those having to travel have also been introduced, including asking passengers to board buses one at a time and remain two metres apart.

Passengers are also being asked to pay via contactless card or the app if possible and not to travel if they feel unwell.

Travellers needing to cough or sneeze are being asked to do so into a tissue or into the side of their arm and wash their hands after travelling.

Council supported services which have already been suspended include the 88 Nailsea to Clevedon via Portishead, the A5 Winford to Winscombe via Wrington and the community bus L1 at Locking Parklands and Haywood Village.

Other suspended services include community services the B1 at Bleadon, the C1 at Worlebury and the C2 South Road/Hillside.

A council spokesman said: “Most bus services in North Somerset are now operating emergency timetables and some services have now been suspended.

“We are directing all passengers to www.travelwest.info/coronavirus for more information about local bus, rail and coach services.

“Passengers can search for their local bus service number to find out if this service is operating and at what frequency.

“We are asking people to only travel if their journey is essential.”

Buses from Bristol Airport are still running, including the A3.

These services are run by First and are used by people into the area, including key workers, travelling into Bristol.
