North Side thief steals parked motorcycles

Police are warning residents about a series of motorcycle thefts reported since last month in Lake View, Lincoln Park, Lincoln Square and Uptown on the North Side.

In each case, a male in a yellow vest took motorcycles that were parked on the street or in large parking complexes, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The thefts occurred:

  • About 1:30 p.m. May 9 in the 400 block of West Surf Street;
  • About 1:30 p.m. May 9 in the 400 block of West Wrightwood Avenue;
  • About 10 a.m. May 1 in the 1200 block of West Waveland Avenue;
  • About 7:30 p.m. April 30 in the 3400 block of North Hazel Street;
  • Between 3 p.m. April 29 and noon May 2 in the 800 block of West Agatite Avenue;
  • Between 10 a.m. April 26 and 1:15 p.m. April 27 in the 4700 block of North Ravenswood Avenue;
  • About 9 a.m. April 8 in the 500 block of West Wrightwood Avenue; and
  • About midnight April 1 in the 600 block of West Roscoe Street.
