North Shields boy dresses up as Indiana Jones in the hope of meeting hero Harrison Ford

This young Indiana Jones fan dressed up as his hero in the hope of meeting Hollywood legend Harrison Ford.

The star has been in the North East filming the fifth instalment of the series, with a production crew at Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland.

And in between shoots, the actor has been spotted out and about in areas including North Shields and the Newcastle Quayside.

On Wednesday, one of his biggest - and youngest - fans turned up at Bamburgh Castle hoping to get a glimpse of the star.

Felix West, nine, from North Shields, went to watch the filming dressed up as Indiana Jones, complete with trademark hat and whip.

He did not get to see his hero but enjoyed the evening nonetheless.

His dad Paul said the youngster starting watching the Indiana Jones films during lockdown last year and really liked them. He became a huge fan of the series and has seen the movies many times.

He even dressed up as some of the characters at home and, on his birthday in January, dad Paul and mum Brooke bought him an Indiana Jones outfit.

He also roped his sister Rhye, seven, into dressing up and playing an Indiana Jones computer game.

Paul, 40, a civil servant, said: "Felix is a big fan of Indiana Jones. It's surprising because it's not really in his age bracket. But he really enjoyed the films and just loves them.

"We knew they were filming at Bamburgh Castle and we heard that Harrison Ford was in North Shields, which is where we live.

"We thought he wouldn't come to the same place twice and decided to go to Bamburgh to see if we would be able to spot him on the off chance.

"We didn't see Harrison Ford in the end and Felix was a little disappointed. I did explain to him there was little chance we would see him.

"But we had a nice time. The weather was nice, we had fish and chips and ice cream and had a walk along the beach. He also practised his whipping while he was there."

This week, Harrison Ford was spotted at The Ship's Cat at North Shields Fish Quay, and at Aveika and Khai Khai in Newcastle.

The 78-year-old was also photographed cycling along the River Tyne.
