North Sea entrepreneur joins board of oil and gas firm

A well-known figure in the North Sea industry has been appointed as a non-executive director at an oil and gas firm targeting interests in Morocco.

Andrew Hockey, 59, who founded Fairfield Energy, has joined the board at Chariot Oil & Gas. He has over 35 years' experience in the sector, with specific expertise in the development and production of gas assets in the North Sea and Morocco.

Hockey has also held posts with Eni, Fina, LASMO, Triton Energy and Monument and is currently chief executive of Independent Oil and Gas, a UK-based development and production operator with assets in the Southern North Sea gas basin.

George Canjar, Chariot’s chairman, said Hockey’s experience “will no doubt prove invaluable as we seek to deliver value from the Anchois gas discovery in Morocco”.

“Furthermore, his experience in the oil and gas sector will enhance our decision making and strategic planning."
