Rain will linger in upper Thailand despite the departure of storm Son-Tinh, with more expected at least until Tuesday.
The Meteorological Department on Monday warned northern and northeastern provinces of rain or even downpours throughout Tuesday, due to the impact of a tropical depression approaching the country from the South China Sea.
Flash floods are possible in some areas of the two regions, it added.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department ordered rescuers in 20 provinces in the North and Northeast and eight more in other regions to remain vigilant until Tuesday for flooding and runoff.
Son-Tinh has left flooded Kanchanaburi, Tak, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phayao provinces.
Director-general Chayaphol Thirisak said Kanchanaburi's Sangkhla Buri district was hardest hit.
Kanchanaburi governor Jeerasak Phumsawad said villages in tambon Laiwo in the district were damaged by water coming down from the mountain after torrential rain late last week and the cleanup campaigns were still underway.
Although the water levels have receded, officials and volunteers were ordered to watch out for the strong current of a creek running through the tambon, he added.
