North Leeds takeaway seriously damaged by rampant building fire

A serious building fire caused significant damage to a popular Leeds takeaway on Thursday night (15/08).

Ozmo's on Chapeltown Road was seriously damaged in the incident, which saw a large chunk of Chapeltown Road cordoned off whilst firefighters were tackling the blaze.

The West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service were called to the fire at around 6:30pm, amid reports that a fire was raging through the takeaway at the south end of Chapeltown Road.

A heavy presence was deployed by the fire service, with four vehicles and one aerial dispatch attending the scene, along with a fire investigation officer.

The fire crews were forced to use eight breathing apparatus, three hose reels and positive pressure ventilation fans to extinguish the fire, but not before it had caused significant damage to the property.

The fire also caused smoke logging to neighbouring properties before it was extinguished.
