North Lanarkshire councillors thank staff for hard work during pandemic

Councillors in North Lanarkshire have formally thanked staff for all their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NLC’s Policy and Strategy Committee considered a report this week which outlined how the council responded to the pandemic across all its services and reported on how its emergency response was handled, along with the work carried out with partners.

Council leader Jim Logue told staff: “There’s no doubt at all that the COVID-19 pandemic presented council staff with the biggest challenge they have ever faced.

“I’m proud to say that employees from every service stood up to that challenge, continuing to deliver quality services to people across North Lanarkshire.

“All councillors will agree with me when I say a heartfelt thank-you to all our staff.

“Across the whole spectrum, staff had to come up with innovative solutions to extremely difficult problems.

“From moving huge amounts of teaching and learning online, to supporting families worst-hit by the crisis and to ensuring that not a single day was lost in household general waste collection, staff went above and beyond in delivering for communities.”

“We often talk about working in partnership with other agencies and, in North Lanarkshire, that partnership was strong before the pandemic.

But what is clear is that work with NHS Lanarkshire, Police Scotland, VANL and others has made a real difference to those who have needed it most.”
