North Lanarkshire Council suspend bin collections due to wintry weather

North Lanarkshire Council have suspended bin collections for the rest of the day due to the wintry weather.

The local authority announced the decision online earlier today due to the snow.

The council tweeted: “Due to weather conditions there will be no bins serviced today (Tuesday, February 9).

“Our brown bin service will be cancelled this week - please return your brown bin to your property and present it on the next collection date.

“All other bins due for collection this week please leave them kerbside and these will be emptied when weather permits later this week.

“Special uplifts scheduled for today have been suspended and they will be caught up with by the end of the week.

“Recycling centres are closed at the moment; however, they may open later when access roads are cleared and made safe

“All gritters are currently deployed and working hard to clear priority one roads, pavements and cycleways – including routes to our Covid-19 vaccination centres.

“Showers are expected throughout the day: remember, only travel if it’s essential.”
