North Lanarkshire Council say message remains`please don't drive to exercise in our parks'

North Lanarkshire Council have today reinforced their message when it comes to using their public parks following the latest slight change to Scotland’s daily exercise rules during lockdown.

The once-a-day exercise limit has been removed in Scotland from today (Monday, May 11).

But Ms Sturgeon said people must still stay close to home and emphasised the move does not extend to picnics, sunbathing or barbeques.

And North Lanarkshire Council have also stated that their parks such as Strathclyde Country Park is open for exercise but still the message remains the same not to drive to it.

NLC tweeted this afternoon: “It’s ok to exercise in our lovely country parks, but please don’t drive to them.

“The guidance in Scotland permits exercise – such as walking, running or cycling – but does not yet extend to outdoor leisure activities such as sunbathing, picnics or barbecues.”

Last month locals were left fuming after pictures emerged online showing dozens of cars lining the road on a Sunday afternoon despite government orders not to leave your home except if it is essential.
