North Lanarkshire Council has reaffirmed its commitment as a landlord by signing the Scottish Housing Regulator’s Assurance Statement ensuring tenants and residents have improved access to housing performance information.
The statement, which is readily available to its tenants, was presented to NLC’s Housing Committee, and signed by housing convener Councillor Heather Brannan-McVey prior to its submission to the regulator.
The statement is in place to ensure landlords are responsible and accountable for delivering positive outcomes and services for tenants and service users in areas including homelessness, complaint management, tenant and resident safety and human rights and equality.
Since April 2019, social landlords in Scotland have a statutory obligation to produce an Annual Assurance Statement relating to the previous financial year by October 31 each year.
The regulator also requires landlords to notify them during the year of any material changes to the assurance in our statement, including any areas of non-compliance.
No areas of non-compliance were reported for 2021-2022.
Councillor Brannan-McVey said: “As we sign the Scottish Housing Regulator’s Assurance Statement, NLC is once again pledging to comply with all the necessary regulations and standards that our tenants rightly expect to receive from us as their landlord.
“To ensure compliance is met, we have robust and effective processes and mechanisms in place and have an excellent track record as a landlord in all aspects of housing performance.
“It’s also pleasing to note that no areas of non-compliance were required to be reported to the regulator and we will strive to maintain this high standard.
“We will continue to monitor, review and update all aspects of the requirements on an ongoing basis to support our tenants and ensure we continue to deliver first-class housing services.”
