North Lanarkshire Council gives green light for new Taco Bell restaurant

North Lanarkshire Council has given planning permission for a new Taco Bell restaurant on the site of the former Pizza Hut in Cumbernauld.

The plans will result in the existing building on the town’s South Muirhead Road being reduced in size, from 345sq m to 147sq m - this is to accommodate plans for a drive-thru at the back of the restaurant.

However, the fast food outlet does not intend to create a drive-thru at this time, with any such plans requiring additional planning permission from the council.

Work at the site - which would see the fast food giants operate seven-days-a-week between 7am to 11pm - has started, with no opening date yet confirmed.
