North Lanarkshire Council announces extended service for recycling centres

North Lanarkshire Council’s recycling centre have began to accept more household items of waste following their sudden closures due to coronavirus.

From Monday, June 15, you will be able to dispose of a number of additional items at the centres including those in Netherton and Shotts.

This includes carpet, underlay, mattresses and suites.

Please place these items in the general household waste skips.

A statement on the council’s website said: “Physical distancing arrangements remain in place at all our centres so the number of vehicles allowed in at any one time is limited.

“Centres are open for North Lanarkshire residents only so please bring proof of your address and photo id.

“At this time, we cannot accept wood (including MDF), garden waste, electrical equipment, fridges and freezers, metals, rubble, engine oil, car batteries, textiles or shoes. We continue to review the situation, and hope to be able to accept other materials in the near future.”
