North Korea moves closer to attack on Guam with report delivered to Kim

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has received a report from the country's army about a plan to launch missiles towards Guam, according to the state news agency.

Mr Kim has reportedly ordered the army to be ready to strike "at all times" in the event he makes a decision.

The news agency also says he will "watch the actions of the US", and that it should make the "right choice" in order to avoid military conflict.

"The United States, which was the first to bring numerous strategic nuclear equipment near us, should first make the right decision and show through actions if they wish to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula and prevent a dangerous military clash," Mr Kim was cited as saying in the report by KCNA.

The North Korean army said last week it would finalise by mid-August a plan to fire four intermediate ballistic missiles near Guam.

More to come.
