North Inch and Muirton Community Council in Perth warn residents not to attend meeting if they have travelled to coronavirus-hit countries

A community council has told residents not to come along to this week’s meeting if they have recently been to a country hit by the coronavirus.

The country is preparing itself for a major outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, after the first Scottish case was confirmed in Tayside over the weekend.

Now North Inch and Muirton Community Council is asking residents to “carefully consider” whether or not to attend the upcoming meeting on Wednesday, March 4 if they think they may have been in contact with the virus.

A post on their Facebook page read: “We’re looking forward to meeting you all at our North Inch and Muirton Community Council meeting on Wednesday, March 4.

“Given the nationwide precautions in place we’d like to remind you that if you’ve recently arrived back to the UK from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau or Italy within the last 14 days, or been in close contact with someone who has, or if you have ‘flu-like’ symptoms, please carefully consider whether you should attend the community council meeting.

“Keep well.”

Those who may be unable to attend the community council meeting will be able to get a copy of the minutes sent to them by email.
