North Glasgow lockdown party disturbance sees seven arrested and charged

Seven people were arrested following after police broke up a lockdown party in North Glasgow last night.

Scores of police raced to a property at Egilsay Street in the Milton area last night around 10pm following a report of an ongoing party.

On arrival, officers spoke to the occupants and encouraged them go home, with the gathering dispersed a short time later.

A 31-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection and are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.

While another two women, aged 27 and 33, and three men, aged 23, 31 and 34, were also arrested and charged in connection and released on undertaking to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court in August.

Sergeant Gordon Murphy, of Glasgow Baird Street Station, said: “We can confirm that we attended a property at Egilsay Street in Glasgow around 10pm on Saturday, 4 July, 2020, following a report of an ongoing party.

“Officers spoke to the occupants and encouraged them to go home. The gathering dispersed a short time later.

“A 31-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection and are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 July, 2020.

“Another two women, aged 27 and 33, and three men, aged 23, 31 and 34, were arrested and charged in connection and released on undertaking to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 26 August, 2020.

“The Chief Constable has made it clear that we are asking people to take personal responsibility to do the right thing and remember the purpose of these measures is to aid the collective effort to stay safe, protect others and save lives by preventing the virus from spreading.”
