The North East is in for some mixed weather this weekend as April gets off to a rainy start before the region is treated to some spring sunshine.
According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, Friday's damp conditions will persist overnight with widespread cloud and outbreaks of drizzle. The region will experience a cool and cloudy Saturday, with light rain likely throughout the morning and temperatures peaking at 7°C.
