North East weather: Hour by hour outlook as forecasters predict sunny and dry day

Forecasters have predicted a sunny and dry Saturday for most parts of the region.

It's predicted to be a fine start with warm, sunny spells for most inland areas while in other areas, the cloud will start to build with the odd shower possible.

Today's Met Office forecast states: "Fine start with most parts staying dry throughout. Cloud will build through the day, however, with the odd afternoon shower possible.

"Warm sunny spells likely, especially inland, although feeling cooler in the onshore breeze. Maximum temperature 17C.

The forecast for tonight states: "Variable cloud and clear spells overnight. Coastal parts staying breezy with onshore winds bringing a few showers inland from the North Sea.

"Tuning rather chilly, especially inland with lighter winds. Minimum temperature 4C."
