North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast shows miserable conditions for bank holiday Monday

While many North East families hope to make the most of the extra bank holiday, the dull and drab weather may put a dampener on the long weekend.

That's because the Met Office predict a miserable and wet day across Newcastle and the rest of the North East all day, with grey skies and heavy rain predicted.

With highs of 16C and lows of 12C, the bulk of the rain is expected in the morning and early afternoon, levelling off for a couple of hours before showers return in the evening.
