North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast as Met Office predicts heavy rain and thunder

The North East is set for a wash out on Monday. The start of the week will largely be cloudy with spells of heavy rain moving north. Thunder is also to be expected.

However, it will be drier with some warm bright or sunny intervals developing later in the afternoon. Again, these will be scattered with thundery showers in places.

Light wind is also forecast and the maximum temperature will be 19 °C.

Tonight, showers will continue though the evening in places. These will become dry and mostly clear during the second half of the night.

There will also be some mist or fog patches by morning. The minimum temperature will be 5 °C.
