North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for Sunday as sun turns to cloud

The North East sunshine is set to fade with clouds taking over for a gloomy end to the weekend.

According to the Met Office, Sunday will start with a dry and bright morning after a cold and frosty start. Clouds will gather by the afternoon which will spill eastwards.

Sunshine will turn increasingly hazy throughout the day. It will feel mild with light winds and the maximum temperature will be 11 °C.

Overnight, cloud will continue to thicken. However, minimal rain is forecast and it will remain dry. Winds will strengthen by the morning, turning blustery in coastal areas. The minimum temperature will be 5 °C.

Looking ahead, parts of the UK could be as warm as Greece ahead of the Easter weekend with temperatures rising to 18C.

However, temperatures will be around 9C near Newcastle and the North East. The Met Office has said that areas in the north will still be subject to chilly conditions, but on the whole, the forecast is drier and less windy than as of late.

The Met Office said: "Breezy and rather cloudy with some rain spreading northeast during Monday and Tuesday.

“Drier and less windy on Wednesday. Becoming warmer in the south, but remaining cold in the north.”
