Temperatures are set to soar across the region today with highs of up to 21C in Newcastle and a North East high of 24C.
The Met Office has forecast that it will be another warm day with 'bright or sunny spells, but feeling cooler near the coast. Today's weather forecast for the North East states: "Another warm day with bright or sunny spells.
"Sunshine will be rather hazy at times under areas of high cloud. Feeling cooler near the coast with a fresh onshore breeze. Maximum temperature 24°C."

The forecast for tonight predicts cloud will thicken overnight with outbreaks of rain covering the north of the region, however it will remain dry in the south.
The forecast states: "Cloud will thicken overnight with outbreaks of rain or drizzle affecting the north of the region.
"Remaining clearer, drier and cooler overnight further south. Minimum temperature 12 °C."
