It's set to be a mixed day for weather in the region as sun and showers are forecast.
It's predicted to be a "dry and bright" start for many in the North East although scattered cloud is expected to develop causing the occasional shower.
The Met Office weather forecast states: "A dry and bright start for many, although some low cloud towards the west. Scattered cloud developing during the morning with occasional showers, heaviest in the west. Showers easing late afternoon. Maximum temperature 15 °C."

These showers are expected to clear up leaving a "fine and dry" evening with clear skies overnight. And for tonight, the forecast states: "A fine and dry evening with cloud quickly fading away.
"Clear skies overnight, feeling cool inland but staying milder near the coasts. Minimum temperature 4 °C."
