Forecasters have said hail and thunder could be expected at the start of the summer month.
The Met Office has predicted today will start off cloudy with outbreaks of rain throughout the day. It's expected that sunny spells will develop in some areas however some heavy showers will 'break out during the afternoon' with the risk of hail and thunder.
The forecast for today's weather states: "Cloudy, with some outbreaks of light rain at first. Becoming brighter, with some sunny spells developing, but showers breaking out during the afternoon, some heavy with the risk of hail and thunder.

"Feeling warm in the sunshine, with light winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C."
Forecasters have predicted these showers are expected to ease during the evening leaving a 'largely chilly night'. The forecast for tonight's weather states: "Showers dying out during the evening to leave a largely dry night, with long clear spells.
"Turning chilly again, with some mist and fog patches forming by dawn. Light winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C."
