While North East residents may have been lapping up drier spells in the New Year, they're set to come to an abrupt close tomorrow - with heavy showers and overcast skies accordingly.
Wednesday's forecast looks miserable across the board, with heavy showers early doors and grey skies from the outset and throughout. The rain looks to come down once more in the afternoon and evening between 4pm and 9pm.
Thursday brings more of the same, with darker skies eventually bursting in the night time. Temperatures between 9C and 7C are expected retrospectively.

The official Met Office forecast for Wednesday, is: "Often cloudy with frequent showers in the west, but sunny spells with isolated showers in the east. Windy at first with gales possible, but winds easing through the day.
"Maximum temperature 10 °C."
