North East weather: An hour-by-hour forecast for Saturday and Sunday according to the Met Office

People across the North East will be able to get their sunglasses back out this weekend.

Sunshine is set to make an appearance from behind the clouds at the beginning of the bank holiday weekend. According to the Met Office, sunny intervals are set to change to clouds later in the evening.

The temperature will remain warm with a maximum high of 21 °C on Saturday. Forecasters predict a bright day on Saturday with light winds and some sunny spells at times, particularly during the afternoon.

However there is a chance of the odd, mainly light, shower in places. Sunday is expected to be "generally settled" although some showers remain possible.
