Today we recap all of the criminals who were locked up across February for heinous crimes including murder and manslaughter, while elsewhere one woman detailed her horror after finding a disgraced workman raiding through her underwear drawer.

The criminals jailed in February 2023 for despicable crimes - including murder and manslaughter
These criminals were responsible for some appalling crimes - and they have all been locked up for their actions.
The offenders were put before judges in February for crimes ranging from murder, manslaughter, robbery and assault to fraud and sexual offences. And they rightly found themselves behind bars.
Among the court cases was that of Harry Turner, who was found guilty of murdering his wife after stabbing her 78 times. He admitted manslaughter on the grounds of loss of control but denied murder. A jury found Turner guilty after a trial and he was told to serve a minimum of 17 years in prison.

Mum left feeling 'violated' after catching workman raking through her underwear drawer
A mother was left feeling "violated and exposed" after she caught a workman rifling through her underwear drawer.
Ashleigh Blakey felt physically sick when she caught the workman going through her drawers on her in-house CCTV on May 5 last year.
The Thirteen Housing workman had attended her home to fix an alarm, but Ashleigh left him alone when she had to travel to Newcastle for a job interview.

Met Office forecasts snow and blizzards for North East as households issued warning
As the Met Office predict blizzards and snow blasts across the North East this month, Northumbrian Water is reminding customers not to be complacent when it comes to protecting their properties.
Although spring is just weeks away, the water company is urging people to take the icy weather warning seriously in order to reduce the chances of costly repairs and potential flooding caused by frozen pipes.
According to the Met Office, strong winds and snow showers are set to hit the region in the early part of March – meaning that additional teams will be working hard through the wintery conditions to ensure that the water continues to flow, and will be on hand to repair leaks and bursts in communities.

Haymarket Metro Station exit only after escalator "develops fault"
Passengers boarding the Tyne and Wear Metro are being advised to use Central Station and Monument as Haymarket is exit only.
Currently, only one escalator is working in the station as one is undergoing a complete renewal and the other developed a fault on Sunday night.
The fault on the second escalator became apparent at about 10pm on Sunday evening, shortly after the station was closed due to someone falling on the escalator. However, the two issues are not thought to be connected.

Scarlett Moffatt hints at pregnancy 'dilemma' on Instagram as she puts burning question to fans
Scarlett Moffatt asked an important question to fans on Instagram, hinting that she could be facing a major 'dilemma' over her pregnancy.
The Country Durham star, who shot to fame a decade ago with her family on Gogglebox a decade ago, took to the social media platform at the end of last month to share the news that she and other half Scott Dobison are expecting their first child together.
Uploading a photo of their baby scan, next to the couple's dog Bonnie, wearing a bib that said 'I'm going to be a big sister.' Scarlett wrote: "It truly feels like a dream writing this caption. Me & Scott are on cloud nine & we are so happy that we get to share this moment with you all. You are so loved already little one."

Entries open for Great North Run Junior and Mini events and they're set to be a sell-out
The 'country's biggest kids' running event' - which takes place on the day before the Great North Run - is now open to entries and organisers are expecting it to be a fast sell-out.
The Junior and Mini Great North Run will be making a return to the Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides on September 9 and thousands of youngsters are expected to take part.
Entries opened at 10am this Wednesday, March 1 for the runs which between them cater for youngsters aged from three years to 16.

Pep Guardiola sign of respect to Newcastle United when asked about netting Manchester City a treble
Pep Guardiola has dismissed talk of winning the treble with Manchester City and demanded laser-sharp focus on Newcastle United this weekend.
The former Barcelona boss was delighted with his side's attitude as they ran out 3-0 winners against Bristol City in the FA Cup to book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Guardiola's side are still fighting on three fronts with the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup up for grabs.

Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray concentrating on the big picture after back-to-back defeats
Tony Mowbray is taking Sunderland's back-to-back defeats at Rotherham and Coventry in his stride, insisting such results are part and parcel of life in the Championship.
The Black Cats suffered two successive defeats for only the second time this season, losing 2-1 at relegation strugglers Rotherham a week ago and then at the weekend by the same score line against the Sky Blues.
Those results saw Sunderland drop out of the play-off spots to ninth in the table at the weekend, slowing the momentum they had built up in the preceding weeks.
But, while Mowbray was left frustrated by those results and wants his side to get back on course when Stoke City visit Wearside this weekend, he is looking at the big picture which still sees Sunderland enjoying an excellent season on their return to the Championship.
