North East tech firms urged to nominate themselves for Dynamites Awards 19

North East tech firms are being urged to put their names forward for the region’s biggest IT awards event.

The sixth annual Dynamites Awards will celebrate the best of the North East’s tech sector and this year two more award categories have been introduced. The first will honour those committed to Diversity and Inclusion, while the second is the Digital Cluster Champion.

The Dynamites Awards is organised by Newcastle-based IT network Dynamo.

Charlie Hoult, Dynamo’s chair, said: “Our Dynamites Awards reward innovation and excellence in the region’s enormously successful IT sector and are now a key date in the calendar for our technology companies.

“Dynamites 19 will showcase the exceptional talent and depth of a regional sector that has an increasing important role to play nationally and even internationally. Our awards do more than just recognize and reward our established players, they identify and celebrate the rising stars in the fields of IT, computing, software, telecoms, digital, web, mobile.

“Through the Dynamites awards we want to find the pioneering pace-setters, discover dynamic developers and identify the inventors and innovators of the future.

“It’s important that we keep the awards fresh and relevant, so we’ve added two more awards this year, Diversity & Inclusion, and Digital Cluster Champion. The former will reward an individual or team who’ve made an outstanding contribution to creating an equitable and inclusive sector; the second will recognize a person or organisation who’ve provided significant support to the development of Dynamo’s sector workstreams.”

The awards will take place on October 17 at Newcastle Civic Centre’s banqueting hall. The deadline for entries has been set as September 9.

Last year’s awards attracted more than 80 entries and more than 400 guests attended the gala dinner.

The 2019 awards categories are:

• Innovator of the Year

• Diversity & Inclusion

• Skills Developer

• Digital Cluster Champion

• Growth Explosion

• Project of the Year - Corporate / Not for Profit & Public Sector

• International Success Story

• Rising Star

• Tech for Good

• Outstanding Achievement
