North East actor Charlie Hunnam doesn't have 'romantic feelings' on marrying girlfriend of 14 years

Actor Charlie Hunnam says he doesn't have "romantic feelings" after talking about marrying his long-term girlfriend.

The actor, who was born in Newcastle, says his American partner Morgana McNeils, 36, had to persuade him to get wed.

When asked about marriage, The Gentleman star said: "Umm, sort of indifferent. She does not feel the same.

"She is very eager to get married. I'll do it because it's important to her but I don't have any, sort of, great romantic feelings."

The 39-year-old, who landed his first acting job on Byker Grove, has been dating the jewellery designer for more than a decade.

"I've been with my girlfriend for 14-and-a-half year...I think? Thirteen-and-a-half years, maybe? Oh gosh."

Currently starring in gangster flick The Gentleman with Hugh Grant and Matthew McConaughey, the former Heaton Manor School pupil is getting ready for the parenting stage of their relationship.

Speaking to America's SiriusXM, he said: "I have an incredibly understanding girlfriend who is requiring more and more as we get older that I figure out a way to balance these things a little better.

"I've gotten off pretty easily so far, with being able to just disappear and be completely selfish and singular in my focus, but if we're going to start talking about having children and getting married, then I'm going to have to figure out a way to balance that a little more effectively."
