Pubs and restaurants are surmounting the pandemic slump with entrepreneurial ingenuities, such as a food chute and dial-a-pint schemes.
The Brock pub and restaurant near Finglas in north Dublin has opened up a drive-thru service with staff pushing food down a large chute, to enable social distancing.
Drivers pull up outside the premises and pick up their food at the bottom of the chute.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is being served and meals include fried breakfasts, crispy chicken wings and soup.
The pub took to social media to advertise their new, inventive way of feeding customers during Covid-19 and they stated they were “thinking outside The Brock.”
Damien and Linda Crosby, from the pub, posted on Facebook: “All the support from our customers and staff over the years has been incredible and we want to thank you all for it.
“We look forward to serving you via our drive-thru this weekend. It will be open every day from 9am and we will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
Meanwhile Graingers Hanlons Corner, a well-known pub on North Circular Road in Dublin, is delivering pints and cocktails to doors.
The pub posted on Facebook: “This weekend we are open and ready to deliver to your home!! We want everyone to stay safe and still be able to relax at home... with a freshly pulled draught pint if you wish... or a cocktail or bottle of wine etc. to enjoy in your garden or balcony!.
“Please stay at home let us come to you!! Social distancing rules apply .. card payments .. food and drink Left on doorstep.” The pub is also serving evening meals, available until 9pm.
