North Dublin locals warned as homes allegedly targeted by scammers offering gutter-cleaning services

Locals in an area of North Dublin have been urged to be have been urged to be wary after homes were allegedly targeted by scammers offering gutter-cleaning services.

Residents in the Beaumont area were told how three men reportedly pressurised an elderly lady who is living by herself to pay them three times their original agreed price.

The three men were said to be driving a silver Hiace van.

The Beaumont Residents Association warned users on a post on Facebook of the alleged scam.

They said: "Beware of individuals offering to clean your house gutters.

"Three men in silver Hiace van are calling into houses offering gutter-cleaning services.

"Yesterday in Beaumont, these men pressurised an elderly lady (living alone) to pay them three times their agreed price.

They also reminded locals to only pay for services that were previously ordered, as many people often fall for scammers offering services on the spot.

They added: "Do not engage or pay for services you have not ordered.

"Beware of individuals soliciting their services. If you haven't ordered it, don't use it."
