North Dublin family distraught after beloved pet hit by heartless driver

A North Dublin woman was horrified to find out that her beloved family pet had been knocked down and heartlessly left to die.

Georgina Smith’s beloved pooch was hit by a car near Lidl in Ballymun.

Max has been an important member of the family for the last 12 years and never usually strays outside.

The Ballymun mother’s kids had left the hall door open when the pet wandered towards the dangerous road.

The driver of the car did not stop to check on the pet. Two kind strangers arrived in the nick of time and brought the terrier to the vets.

The girls waited until Max’s heartbroken owner arrived.

He suffered a fractured pelvis and is on strong medication.

Georgina told Dublin Live about the family’s horrendous ordeal.

She said: “I can’t believe the person that hit him didn’t stop.

“They could have at least stopped.”

She is extremely grateful to the girls that rescued Max and she admits that she does not want to even imagine what could have happened if they hadn’t been there.

Max has been a vital part of the family for more than a decade.

Georgina explains that her daughter used to push him around in a pram when she was younger.

The pair are inseparable best friends.

A further visit to the vets will be needed.

The veterinary bills have come to €250 so far in order to get the Max back home to where he belongs.
