North Dublin disability service receives huge cheque from southside charity group

One of Ireland's largest providers of community-based services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities has received a very generous donation from a group of south Dublin ladies.

Over the last seven years, the ‘New to You’ designer fashion sale has raised over €200,000 for organisations St Michael's House in Baldoyle.

The group recently presented their latest donation of €62,000 to the service.

The money was raised through the 'New to You' team's sale which was held in November.

This year, the money raised will aid the development of respite and specialised care projects that will benefit 18 service users from the Day Service who have profound intellectual disabilities.

The ‘New to You’ fashion sale was started in 2012 by a team of ladies from Sandymount lead by Niamh Hanratty.

The group were inspired by their friends, the Nolan Family, whose daughter Ivana is a St. Michael’s House service user.

Ivana’s sister Danielle also secured a match donation from Google for the funds raised by the fashion sale this year.

The next ‘New to You’ fashion sale will take place on Sunday, 10 November in the RDS, Ballsbridge.
