North Carolina players embrace injured opponent in great display of sportmanship

Auburn star Chuma Okeke left Friday’s Sweet 16 matchup in the second half after suffering a serious left knee injury while attacking the rim. Okeke’s leg buckled as he started to go up for a shot, and he was in severe pain on the floor.

After being attended to by trainers, Okeke was able to stand and walked off the court, and was taken for X-rays within the stadium. In a great display of sportsmanship, the North Carolina lineup approached Okeke to wish him well as he left the floor.

Okeke, a sophomore, was phenomenal against the Tar Heels. leading Auburn with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting 8-for-11 from the floor.
