Officers said they spoke to three people back in May and the made statements "regarding alleged incidents that had occurred against two of those people".

The man was due to appear in court but cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The offences were alleged to have happened 10 years ago.

"Police will allege the man sexually assaulted the two children who were related to him, multiple times between 2014 and 2016," a police statement said.

The investigation was done by ACT Policing's Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team, with the arrest of the accused man taking place on Friday, July 24.

The accused was due to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court "charged with six counts of incest under 10 years/lineal descent and four counts of aggravated act of indecency/under 10 years".

The police said that anyone who had been affected by sexual violence could report it at a police station or by 131444.

"You can also submit an online report for historical sexual assault for incidents that occurred more than six months ago," ACT Policing said.
