Each twist, thrill and hairbreadth escape from Alfred Hitchcock’s infamous spy thriller North by Northwest, has been retained in Carolyn Burn’s world premier stage adaptation. Directed by Simon Phillips and performed by Melbourne Theatre Company, the play follows Roger Thornhill, a suave advertising exec (originally played by Cary Grant) who has been abducted by thugs in a case of mistaken identity. When they try to pin a murder on him, he runs, and is chased from New York to North Dakota by spies, police, and the inevitable cool blonde.
