North Belfast teens attacked and delivery man's jaw broken

Police are investigating after two teenagers were attacked with a glass bottle and a delivery man suffered a broken jaw in North Belfast.

The two violent incidents on Sunday are being linked by police.

In the first, two 15-year-olds were approached by older teenagers at a Skate Park on Little Patrick Street at around 11.30am.

A PSNI spokesman said: “The older males demanded the younger teens empty their pockets and began to physically attack them with a large stone and a glass bottle. One of the attackers is also described as being in possession of a knife which he used to threaten the younger boys.

“The assailants then fled on foot with a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims.”

The second attack happened to a cyclist making a food delivery in Victoria Parade in the New Lodge.

Police said: “The man was set upon by two unknown males and punched a number of times in the face and head. It is believed his assailants tried to steal items from his bike but were unsuccessful. The victim sustained a broken jaw.

“The descriptions of the suspects in both incidents are similar and we believe they may be linked. One suspect is described as a black male, around 17 or 18-years-old, wearing a pink T-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms. The other is described as a white male with a shaved head, also aged around 17 or 18-years-old wearing a grey and black top and black tracksuit bottoms.

“I am appealing to anyone with information or who may be able to help us identify the males involved to please get in touch. Detectives can be contacted at Musgrave police station by calling 101, quoting reference number 640 21/04/19.”

“Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
