North Belfast PSNI probe early morning car hijacking

The PSNI is investigating after a car was hijacked in the early hours of Thursday morning.

It happened at around 6.30am on Gardiner Street in North Belfast.

A man was driving a blue Volve V60 and as he got out of the vehicle in a car park, he was approached by a man with a knife.

Detective Constable Taylor said: “Following a minor altercation, the unknown male entered the vehicle and drove off towards the Divis area of West Belfast. The driver of the vehicle was not injured but left badly shaken.

“The suspect is described as wearing white trainers, dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms and a dark hooded top.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 175 16/01/20. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous.”
