A North Belfast football club has teamed together to support a major food bank initiative in the area.
St Mary's FC have been collecting items to support the charity effort currently being run by the North Belfast Advice Partnership.
The campaign has been supported by a number of sports clubs in the past including Danske Bank Premiership side Cliftonville.
Mark O'Hara came up with the idea of St Mary's supporting the worthwhile cause.
He helps run theclub's '06 Athletic age group alongside his son Niall and Colm Girvan.
St Mary's has over 400 members and around 40 teams competing, with players ranging from six years old to senior level.
"Mark came up with the idea of St Mary's supporting this wonderful initiative after reading about it," explained Colm.
"He saw a poster advertising the food bank and thought it would be good for us to do something to support the initiative.
"St Mary's is such a big club with so many players, so we thought we would pool our resources together and help out in any way we can.
"We spread the word throughout the whole club for anyone to help out with donations to the food bank, and there has been a great response so far.
"The club has rallied round to support the North Belfast Advice Partnership. It is such a worthwhile cause, especially during these tough times with Covid-19 and the lockdown.
"We will continue collecting items for the food bank and supporting the effort as much as we can."
