North Ayrshire pervert caught with images of children as young as 7 being sexually assaulted

A North Ayrshire man on the sex offenders register has admitted being in possession of indecent images and using internet aliases without telling police.

Graham Scobie appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday where it was revealed he had broken the conditions of the sex offenders register by using profiles on Skype and an adult webcam site.

Scobie, 50, also admitted being in possession of indecent images of children between December 14, 2014, and May 28, 2019, at an address on Glencairn Street in Stevenston.

Scobie is on remand in Kilmarnock's prison (Kilmarnock standard)

Scobie, whose former address was given as Church Street in Kilwinning, is now on remand in Kilmarnock Prison.

The court heard how Scobie had been made subject to the sex offenders register for five years.

During a routine search of his property on May 28 last year, a laptop was found which contained five indecent images of children.

Prosecutor Ruairidh Ferguson told the court how one image, branded Category A, depicted an adult sexually abusing a seven-year-old boy.

Four further images, branded Category C, depicted children aged between seven and 12.

The date of download was December 17, 2014, and the laptop had last been used on January 11 last year.

Mr Ferguson also told the court that Scobie was found to have a Skype profile under the alias ‘Joe Bloggs’ and an account on an adult webcam website under the name ‘Scottishscobster2000’.

The court heard how “he accepted that he regularly used” the adult site which features live webcam performances by individual webcam models and couples, typically including nudity and sexual activity.

Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane deferred the case for background reports to be prepared and he will be sentenced on March 23.

Sheriff McFarlane told Scobie, who appeared in the dock from custody, “you are going nowhere in the meantime”.
