Norman Bar supervisor granted licence after police withdraw objection

Norman Bar on Call Lane has a new licence holder, after West Yorkshire Police withdrew an objection against the move.

The popular Call Lane premises almost lost its licence altogether after a mass brawl erupted among revellers in late March.

It then submitted a request for the licence to be transferred to a new holder - Leonna Taylor.

Taylor was in fact running the bar on the evening of the brawl - according to West Yorkshire Police - and the force initially submitted an objection against the transfer, claiming it would 'undermine the crime prevention objective'.

In a meeting held in early April, the bar , including ID scanners and extra door staff.

A meeting was supposed to take place today (Tuesday) to discuss the licencing matter among council decision makers. Yet before the meeting could go ahead, West Yorkshire Police decided to withdraw its objection.

This means the transfer of the premise licence has now been granted.
