Normal People star Paul Mescal has been listed as one of the Screen’s Stars of Tomorrow 2020.
The actor, whose won critical and popular acclaim in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel, was named alongside fellow Irish stars Donall O Healai and Helen Behan and writers Colum Eastwood and Declan Lawn.
Cinematographer Kate McCullough and costume designer Sinead Kidao have also been tipped for great things.
Paul, 24, who played Connell in the drama, wrote: “Thank you so much to @screendaily for including me.
“It is an incredible honour and I’m in amazing company! Massive congratulations to everyone who was included x”.
His co-star Daisy Edgar Jones, who was also named, added: “I feel so proud to be included in this list with such an amazing group of people.”
Screen’s Stars of Tomorrow curator Fionnuala Halligan said: “Irish participation is very high with three actors, a cinematographer and a costume designer from the South and two writers and a director from the North.
“It only serves to underline how rich the seam of young talent Ireland is in all aspects of filmmaking.
“It’s a very difficult time for the creative industries right now so it’s a good opportunity to celebrate what we have and look forward to what they will do in the future.”
