Norma Foley gives children of Ireland 'free homework pass' in interview with Seamus the Dog

Norma Foley is giving one of her first major interviews on RTE to a dog.

But this is no ordinary pooch, it is Seamus the Dog, one of the rising stars of RTE’s children’s programming.

And the Minister for Education may have met her match as the host of this afternoon’s After School Hub show has sniffed out a major scoop.

Seamus has drawn out the Minister in his questioning and succeeded in convincing Ms Foley to use her ministerial powers to give every child in the country a "free homework pass."

The golden ticket will give a class one day free of homework before the end of term to mark UNICEF World Children’s Day.

Ms Foley said: “All the students I know have been really good and have been working very hard since they went back to school.

“Their teacher will decide what day the children can use it someday between now and Christmas.

“The children and young people of Ireland have been just fantastic.

“We’ve very very proud of them and this is a thank you.”

Kids are urged to tune in to hear Seamus ask the tough questions on RTE’s After School Hub from 3:20pm on Friday.

They can then download their free pass from the Hub anytime after 5pm.

After School Hub was a roaring success when it was launched during the first lockdown this year and all schools were closed.

It has come back this term to offer parents an extra hour’s break.
