iFIT has recalled over 44,000 NordicTrack rowing machines, as they pose a fire risk to users. The recall affects four models of the NordicTrack Model NTRW19147 Rowing Machine, which have been on sale in the United States and Canada.
According to iFIT, the risk is posed by the screen console, which can overheat and ignite, posing a fire hazard. Users with one of the affected rowing machines have been urged to stop using them immediately and to keep them unplugged.
The recall issue states, “There have been eight reported incidents, including two reports of fire, six reports of smoking or melting, and at least $6,000 in property damage. No injuries have been reported.”
Which models are affected?
The recall affects the following iFIT NordicTrack Rowing Machines model numbers:
- NTRW19147.0
- NTRW19147.1
- NTRW19147.2
- NTRW19147.3
The model number is printed on a decal attached to the base of the rower. The recalled rowing machines are black, gray and white and have “NordicTrack” printed in black letters on the front legs of the machine. The back legs of the machine have “RW900” printed in white letters.
The rowing machine was on sale from NordicTrack and Amazon from November 2018 through April 2022 for about $1,700.
