Granit Xhaka has been appointed as the new Arsenal captain.
That's according to the BBC who are reporting that head coach Unai Emery consulted the players before relaying the decision to his squad on Friday morning.
Furthermore, it's claimed that whilst a vice-captain has not been named, it's expected to be between Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Emery will officially confirm the Arsenal captain during his pre-Manchester United press conference this afternoon and Rob Holding revealed earlier in the week that the squad had been asked for their input.
"He likes his five captains. We all did a vote the other week so we'll see what happens and see who gets named," Holding said following the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
"It was just a case of writing names down and then giving them to the manager and he will go through them - obviously with his input - and we'll see what happens.
"I have no idea [when an announcement will be made], but there is a lot of leaders in that team who are helping each other out and pushing each other on.
"Now that we've got these five captains that the manager has brought in it's spreading the leadership group rather than having one person to dictate it.
"You're getting more input, it's generating a good environment."

However, rumours that Xhaka will be confirmed as the Arsenal captain has not gone down well amongst a number of fans.
