Nonprofit rejects $100k donation from Robert Kraft amid solicitation charges

The Haitian Project, a Rhode Island-based organization, rejected a $100,000 donation from New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, according to The Boston Globe. The nonprofit, which provides free schooling children in Haiti, turned down the money on April 10 while Kraft faced charges for solicitation in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Kraft has pled not guilty to two misdemeanor charges for soliciting prostitution despite investigators saying they have video evidence of him paying for sexual acts at Orchids of Asia Day Spa.

The Haitian Project has funded the education of 353 students in seven grades at the Louverture Cleary School in Haiti. Kraft’s donation was made in an effort to help that organization expand, as the money could cover a year’s expenses for a class of 50 students. But one of the organization’s leaders Patrick Moynihan made a point of turning down Kraft’s donation.

“The last thing I wanted was a donation from Robert Kraft,” Moynihan told the Globe last week. “I could not be silent. I had to stand up.”
