'None for the road': Flat tyre check leads to drink-drive arrest

Police in Manchester have arrested a motorist on suspicion of drink-driving after noticing a flat tyre.

Traffic officers stopped a Mercedes that reportedly pulled out in front of a patrol car on Ashton Old Road on Wednesday night.

Officers said a flat tyre led to a spot check, and the driver gave a breath reading of 85.

The alcohol limit for drivers is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.

Writing on Twitter, Greater Manchester Police traffic officers said the driver was in custody, adding the hashtag "#nonefortheroad".
