Non-league giants begin transfer hunt after keeper quits for new life in Bristol

Irvine Meadow are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper after Shaun Newman quit to start a new life in England.

Ayrshire Football News understands out-of-contract Kilwinning Rangers goalkeeper Adam Strain is on the radar of co-bosses Colin Spence and James Latta.

The management duo are keen to get someone in quickly after Newman's surprise departure due to work commitments. It leaves Medda with no goalkeepers in their first team squad.

And 39-year-old Strain could be tempted after stalling on a new deal at the Buffs.

He has been offered a contract extension but the arrival of Jamie Barclay from East Stirlingshire in the summer may persuade him his future lies elsewhere.

Several clubs are understood to be interested in the former Beith and Auchinleck Talbot keeper so Meadow will have competition on their hands.
