Non-league clubs express interest to join SSE Airtricity League

St Francis are keen on a return to the SSE Airtricity League as one of a number of non-league clubs who have expressed an interest in joining the senior ranks next term.

The Dublin club has replied to the FAI's request for expressions of interest in playing in the First Division in the 2021 season, while also asking for a meeting with the association to discuss the potential for not just a senior team but for underage sides to compete in the national leagues.

St Francis played in the League between 1996 and 2001 before amalgamating with St Patrick's Athletic at senior level.

Yola FC are also keen to join the First Division but would be bidding against current League side Wexford for a licence, with both clubs looking to play at Ferrycarrig Park.

In Limerick, Treaty United want to bring senior football back to the city with the deadline set for today.

Treaty United are already represented at senior level in the Women's National League and want to fill the vacuum caused by Limerick FC's departure
