Specially designed for writers who are mid-way through a long-form, non-fiction work, this course will teach you how to get your book ready for publication, teaching you how to identify problem areas, and how to fix them.

Through a series of structured workshops and discussions, you'll finesse the theme and structure of your book, and learn simple ways to stop procrastinating and keep working. Throughout the day, you'll receive tailored tuition from Cathy, ensuring you complete the course with a clear plan of what to do next, and the knowledge you need to finish the job.

Course description

This highly practical one-day event consists of a series of workshops and discussions designed to help attendees identify and overcome blocks in their writing, and get a manuscript ready for publication. All attendees will have the opportunity to get personalised feedback on their work from from professional editor and mentor Cathy Presland. Areas covered during the clinic include:

  • Theme: do you have a clearly articulated concept for your book, or do you need to go back to basics?
  • Length: how long does it need to be?
  • Structure: crafting a compelling narrative, and filling in the gaps
  • Motivation: finding what motivates you, and building this into your writing
  • Support: who can you turn to for help, and when will you need them?
  • Productivity: tips for getting over the hump
